Technology is by far the most rapidly developing field worldwide. With time the world is getting massively digitized as people move forward with remarkable inventions. Organizations have started to realize the expanded growth potential to business with integrating technology. They have started taking up initiative steps.

Employees now have access to workplaces remotely from anywhere they want without their physical presence is necessary. Additionally, IoT devices, along with chatbots, are being integrated to take off the burden from human labor.

With that being said, there is a rise over the number and complexity of these digital assets needing protection. Digitized businesses have opened up a new era of risks and vulnerabilities. This comes along with a considerable security skills gap, crushing security teams under its weight.

With such advancements, traditional methods of cybersecurity are rendered useless. Increased risks ask for a new method of mitigating cyber attacks. Organizations have started considering AI and Machine Learning as one method of improving cybersecurity.

Most experts consider automating AI, and machine learning can be the fresh breath to life to the partially dead cybersecurity we are nursing nowaday. Armed with skills of predictive analysis, automating AI brings out a fresh perspective to security, which I have taken up the liberty to mention within this article. However, before that, there has to be a kick start to the basics.

AI automation a necessity to cybersecurity?

As aforementioned, digitalization has grown to become a critical infrastructure within organizations. There is an increased emphasis on digital transformational activities as it creates a positive impact on the way organizations work.

There is a changed perspective on the very nature of how organizations perform, ranging from their competitiveness, the collective level of efficiency, and the way they interact with customers.

Such an increased level of complexity inadvertently brings about a significant and somewhat complex risk to cybersecurity. Timely management of such risks is another cruciality that demands proper management, monitoring, identifying, and responding to cyber threats. If not, such risks can cripple the organization and have it crumbling down to a sufferable mess.

Albeit, there are many ways to mitigating involving an increased digital transformation. However, no matter how effective these methods may seem, the fact that digital transformation can increase the attack surface as per corporate espionage is hard to overlook.

Many organizations revert to being traditional and prefer manual checkups. There is manual labor involved in checking for unexpected behaviors, comprises or defects within a system. This old school method, however, is not entirely effective and is admittedly slow.

Along with that, there is obvious leverage to human error considering an insurably amount of data requiring handling. Furthermore, to expect humans to efficiently recognize potential cybersecurity threats is unrealistic to the core itself.

Modern organizations, therefore, consider automating AI to be a fresh outlook for cybersecurity. Automated AI serves as the much-needed part of the cybersecurity team. It serves to vital in reliable protection of organizations and allows flexibility through modern and strategic methods.

What benefits does Automated AI provide?

Automated AI is changing the digital landscape of cybersecurity methods that organizations take up. There is a general recognition that implementing automated AI within an organization can give the cybersecurity team leverage to focus on complex matters.

The machines can repeatedly perform mundane work that may cause a human error if done manually. Meanwhile, the cybersecurity team can be used to focus on critical activities requiring technical knowledge and creativity.

Quick and automated detection

AI and Machine Learning allow smarter security measures. These machines are generally smart and, when allowed, can go through automated risk detection without any prompts. As threat detection is generally a tedious process, having an AI software lookup threats instead of a human can significantly reduce human errors.

Additionally, AI comes with the power of predictive analysis, allowing it to observe patterns and past experiences and learn through them. This method is seemingly effective in par with the traditional cause and effect method. With machine self-learning, humans are no longer need to build pattern recognition.

Apart from that, as AI is quite capable of handling large amounts of data, it can also learn and build up reasoning by sifting through cybersecurity blogs and articles. This allows it to reason, identify, and respond against a legitimate threat.

Flawless cybersecurity

As mentioned above, AI reduces any chances of errors, opening doors to error-free security. Detection of threats and potential security flaws is a long and monotonous process giving way to human errors due to boredom.

AI, however, is prone to such errors. It has the potential of working under the burden of sifting through large amounts of data required to access security threats. However, AI, being nothing more than a machine, severely lacks common sense. Therefore, it is necessary for humans and AI to work together and build up a stable and secure cyber defense system.

Timely response against threat actors.

Mitigating against a cyber threat requires sifting through large amounts of data at times, which is a massively time-consuming task for humans. AI, however, is built to deal with such burden

With it being such a powerful tool, it processes large amounts of unstructured data giving it a uniform shape and producing more significant insights and efficiency. It also identified and highlighted patterns much quickly in contrast to humans. Therefore, AI shortens threat identification time and builds up faster response time.

Is there a need for worry?

AI can indeed work to be one of the most excellent cyber defenses. However, it is a mere technology. Despite being an excellent tool for cyber defense, once it ends up in the wrong hands can act as a potential threat.

Its predictive analysis power can again be put to use in analyzing cyber defenses. With that threat actors can build even powerful malware. Additionally, as AI is software-based and severely lacks common sense, hackers and other threat actors can further analyze it to fool the defensive model and penetrate the defenses.

Final words

AI automation is an excellent outlook on a much-deserved cyber security model that we need today. It provides more significant security potential and cancels out sufficient risk factors. Now, as far as its downsides are concerned, it is a risk that we will have to plunge into. The best way to mitigating these risks is to ensure the technology itself remains protected and doesn’t fall into dangerous hands.
